I am glad that I came out to my mom’s place at PJ today!
Just a couple of weeks before I moved back to KL, I canceled the phone line and Streamyx account in Penang, and started subscribing to Maxis broadband service. I have to because I knew that I won’t be able to get a fixed phone line so soon, and internet is pretty much my LIFE nowadays!
The broadband connection is pretty alright when used in areas like PJ, though it tends to get disconnected pretty often, say half a dozen of times throughout the day. This is alright for me, coz once I reconnect to the internet, the connection is pretty fast.
However, back in my parents in law’s house at Serdang, darn, the broadband connection is so super-duper, unbearably, painfully slow! I regretted that yesterday I agreed to stay back and work in my parents in law’s house instead of going to my parents’. I literally spent 2 hours just to check 20 e-mails!!! Duh!!! I couldn’t even get some research done for my freelance assignment, nor update my blogs. It was just so frustrating! I felt like I was just wasting time.
At the end, I gave up on the Internet, went downstairs to watch TV, read a book, and backed up some files from my laptop.
Working from home can be stressful when the Internet connection fails you, huh?
So, I must remember this (and this post shall serve as a reminder): Once phone lines and Streamyx coverage is available in the area where I will be staying (probably 2 weeks later), I am definitely changing back to Streamyx!

I was just now searching for about this when I stumbled on your blog post. I’m just dropping by to say that I really liked seeing this post, it’s really clear and well written. Are you going to blog more about this? It seems like there is more fodder here for future posts.
