Busy with my freelance writing business

I am lagging a lot in my internet marketing efforts recently, as my freelance writing business seems to be picking up over the past few weeks. This is definitely a good sign! :)

I have so far completed three freelance medical writing jobs within a month, met up with a couple of clients to discuss future assignments, and a couple more to see to offer my freelance writing service. This shows that one can actually develop a freelance writing career and making a full income out of it.

Of course, you may want to first start it on a part-time basis if you have zero experience in providing writing services, be it technical writing or penning lifestyle articles. Once you gained the skill and experience, as well as form a network with a list of clients, you may consider turning this into a full-time home-based freelance writing business.

There are plenty of freelance writing opportunities out there, but you need to choose the type of assignments you want to write. This depends on your knowledge and expertise. If you have no clue on how to start a freelance writing business, pick up some guide books from your local book shop or sign up for a freelance writing course.

Below are some of the more popular guide books that are available on Amazon.

For me, working as a medical writer for several years has given me the experience needed to run a freelance business on my own. I can’t say I have done well so far, as there were some ups and downs throughout the past year. Nevertheless, I’m slowly building up my clientele base, either through ex-colleagues recommendation or being ‘accidentally’ found on the Writers.net website where I posted my contact.

So, if you think have the passion to write AND possess adequate writing skills, then a freelance writing business is worth exploring if your ultimate goal is to make a living working from home.

(Meanwhile, I’m not giving up on internet marketing. Will be using my non-writing time to revise what have been learned in the past, review what was done and not done, what is working and what is not, etc. ;) )
