I started blogging last June. Yeah, blogging is surely fun and easy.
When it comes to making money with blogging, well, it can still be a fun thing to do, but not that easy at all. You can’t expect to make good money with your blogs without putting in any effort.
Many bloggers dream of blogging to earn supplemental income, or even turn it into their main stream of monthly income. While this goal is not far beyond the reach of someone with average intelligence, a willingness to work hard, and a basic grasp of blogging technology, many bloggers fail to reap the profits they want from their blogs.
I admit that myself has been one of those bloggers, hehe, hoping to make tons of money on the internet through blogging, but I have not been able to realize this ‘dream’. I did make quite a sum of money accumulatively, but it was not what I expected. It may not be difficult at all if your target is just to make that extra few hundred bucks as supplemental income, by serving PPC ads (e.g. Google Adsense) or writing sponsored posts by participating in paypost networks such as Blogitive. Just to let you guys know, writing paid posts is my first taste of making money through the internet. 
Nevertheless, to be able to make huge profit with blogging is more than just setting up a blog and adding content to it on a regular basis. There is so much more to do if you want to turn your blog to a mone-making machine.
To succeed at blogging for profit, the main thing that you will need is a large readership. The higher your traffic, the more you will earn from PPC ads, the higher you are paid by advertisers for ad placement, or get paid a higher rate for writing paid posts.
However, it is not a simple task to pull in and maintain regular blog visitors that are required to make a blog profitable. As more and more blogs appear each day, having a great idea or writing style is no longer enough to get attention. You need to learn about blog marketing.
Of course, firstly you have to update your blog as often as you can to keep your blog high on search engines like Technorati. Moreover, when your blog is updated frequently, your readers are more likely to return to your site on a regular basis. Having that said, this is one area that I need to improve on as far as this blog is concerned.
However, whatever you updated on your blog will be meaningless if nobody is reading your page. That is why it is also part of a blogger’s responsibility to spend time drawing visitors to his or her blog. Ways to increase traffic are such as exchanging links with other blogger or making contacts in the blogging community. Do keep up to date with the latest traffic generation techniques. Okay, I need to improve on this one as well.
Of course, success is not going to happen overnight. To build the kind of readership that will enable you to blog for profit requires time. It may take at least several months before you are able to start seeing your readership built up, and the profit coming in.
The initial period of your blogging is quite a ‘crucial’ time to kick start your make money blogging plan properly. So try to stay committed to your blogging project, stay motivated and set goals for your blogging activities, both writing and generating traffic. (Am I telling this to myself?)
